Drywall repair cost calculator: Your quotes

Describe the damage and the finish you need, instead of pricing a patch as a tiny new wall.

Start with the questions below. Written quotes are required to compare totals; this page does not estimate a market price.

Check what each quote includes

Leave anything unclear as “Ask.” Choose “Extra” to add a separately priced item to that quote’s budget. Do not also put it in the general left-out costs below.

Cause of damage

Confirm leaks, movement or other causes are corrected before cosmetic repair.

Opening and backing

Record what must be cut out and whether backing or framing needs work.

Patching and drying visits

Ask what materials and return visits are included in the repair.

Texture matching

Name the existing texture and how far the blend extends beyond the patch.

Primer and paint

State patch-only touchup versus painting the whole wall or ceiling to a natural break.

Access and cleanup

Describe high ceilings, furniture, dust protection and debris removal.

Put your quotes side by side

Add only costs left out of each written quote.

Costs outside the quote & your reserve

This is money you set aside. It is not a contractor charge or a recommended percentage.

Quote B
Costs outside the quote & your reserve

This is money you set aside. It is not a contractor charge or a recommended percentage.

Enter a quoted price

A price difference helps only after the work matches.

Nothing is sent to a contractor. Saving keeps these entries in this browser; downloading makes a text file.

Before asking for a price

List each patch, its approximate dimensions, height, texture and the cause of damage.

What the total can tell you

Small repairs can involve several visits and finish matching. A new-installation rate per square foot does not capture that work.

The budget adds the quoted price, separately priced Extra items, other costs left out and any tax not already included. Your chosen reserve is added to that subtotal. Treat every “Ask” row as work that is not yet confirmed as included. Get the answer in writing before comparing totals.
