Cost to install laminate flooring: Quote worksheet

Separate the flooring boxes from the prep, underlayment and finishing work in each laminate quote.

Start with the questions below. Written quotes are required to compare totals; this page does not estimate a market price.

Check what each quote includes

Leave anything unclear as “Ask.” Choose “Extra” to add a separately priced item to that quote’s budget. Do not also put it in the general left-out costs below.

Flooring and delivery

Record box coverage, purchase allowance, delivery and who keeps unopened boxes or spare planks.

Old floor removal

Identify each existing covering and whether underlay, tack strips or adhesive removal is included.

Subfloor preparation

Ask how flatness and moisture are checked and what repair or leveling allowance is priced.

Underlayment

Confirm the underlayment or moisture layer required by the selected product. An attached pad does not answer every substrate question.

Transitions and trim

Count doorways, height changes, baseboards and shoe molding. Name who removes, reinstalls and finishes them.

Furniture and stairs

Separate occupied-room moves, appliance moves and stairs from flat-room installation.

Before asking for a price

List measured rooms, the exact laminate, whether its pad is attached, and the areas that need removal.

What the total can tell you

The broad historical flooring category also includes carpeting, paneling and ceiling tiles. It cannot establish a laminate installation rate.

The budget adds the quoted price, separately priced Extra items, other costs left out and any tax not already included. Your chosen reserve is added to that subtotal. Treat every “Ask” row as work that is not yet confirmed as included. Get the answer in writing before comparing totals.
