Cost to install drywall: Quote worksheet

Keep hanging, finishing and ceiling work separate when you compare a drywall quote.

Start with the questions below. Written quotes are required to compare totals; this page does not estimate a market price.

Check what each quote includes

Leave anything unclear as “Ask.” Choose “Extra” to add a separately priced item to that quote’s budget. Do not also put it in the general left-out costs below.

Board and delivery

Name thickness, panel size, required performance and who moves sheets into the rooms.

Removal and backing

Identify demolition, disposal, framing correction and backing before new board goes up.

Hanging

Separate walls, ceilings, stairwells, high areas and difficult access.

Taping and finishing

Specify the intended finished surface, corners, joints, sanding and texture.

Openings and details

Include access panels, reveals, returns and penetrations rather than treating them as simple area deductions.

Painting and cleanup

State whether primer and paint follow the board work, and who controls dust and removes waste.

Before asking for a price

Record wall and ceiling areas, board specification, room access and the intended finish.

What the total can tell you

Sheet count is a purchase estimate, not a labor estimate. Ask which hanging and finishing tasks the labor price includes.

The budget adds the quoted price, separately priced Extra items, other costs left out and any tax not already included. Your chosen reserve is added to that subtotal. Treat every “Ask” row as work that is not yet confirmed as included. Get the answer in writing before comparing totals.
