Month by month
Each index as the Bureau of Labor Statistics publishes it, newest month first. Index levels compare a material with itself over time; a higher number for one material than another means nothing. On a narrow screen the table scrolls sideways.

How we count
A producer price index measures how the prices U.S. producers receive change over time, before wholesale and store markups, delivery and tax, so it shows how prices move rather than what a homeowner pays. Imported goods are not counted. These are the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ monthly indexes, not seasonally adjusted. The Bureau marks the latest four months preliminary and may revise them; when it does, the figure here follows. The change in a year compares the latest month with the same month a year earlier.
The cost pages use the same indexes: the roofing, driveway, deck and flooring pages say how far their material moved. For what owners actually paid for the work, see what homeowners paid for home improvements.
