Compare floating and glue-down scope without hiding floor preparation inside a square-foot price.

Check what each quote includes

Leave anything unclear as “Ask.” Choose “Extra” to add a separately priced item to that quote’s budget. Do not also put it in the general left-out costs below.

Planks and allowance

Match the product, wear surface, package coverage and purchase quantity across quotes.

Installation method

State floating or glue-down. Adhesive, rolling and open-time work should not disappear into a quote for the other method.

Subfloor preparation

Ask which flattening, patching, moisture assessment and old adhesive work is included.

Removal and disposal

Separate the old flooring, underlay and any affected base or transitions.

Edges and transitions

List thresholds, stairs, perimeter trim, door undercuts and appliance clearances.

Occupied rooms

Record furniture moves, appliance reconnection and when the space can be used again.

Before asking for a price

Record the plank model, installation method, measured rooms and substrate. Keep stairs and wet areas distinct.

What the total can tell you

A water-resistant plank does not price or resolve moisture beneath the floor. Keep the substrate finding and any extra work in writing.

The budget adds the quoted price, separately priced Extra items, other costs left out and any tax not already included. Your chosen reserve is added to that subtotal. Treat every “Ask” row as work that is not yet confirmed as included. Get the answer in writing before comparing totals.
